I am currently working with Dr. Nicholas DelRaso on a number of projects. The first project involves the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)-based metabolomics study on the jet fuel exposure. This project seeks to identify biomarkers associated with military jet fuel exposure for improved health risk assessment for flight-line personnel, and to establish health hazard predictive capabilities for flight-line personnel exposed to new alternative jet fuels. The second project involves investigating the mechanism by which myo-inositol induces an up-regulation of plasmalogen biosynthesis in neuronal cells. This project also seeks to determine if this increase in plasmalogen levels could enhance the brains’ ability to reduce neurological sequelae of hazardous chemical exposure due to oxidative stress.
