As a Consortium Research Fellow at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), I work with Dr. Joe Lyons on research around trust, reliance, and influence. Specifically, I am a member on the Human Insight and Trust (HIT) research team, which is focused on exploring the role of trust in complex human-machine interactions in order to improve warfighting capability. I am currently developing and validating a self-report measure that can be used to assess and monitor the extent to which individuals perceive an autonomous system as a tool or a teammate. The overarching goal of this research is to enable trust researchers to accurately measure these perceptions, as well as enable the ability of interventions to empirically demonstrate their effectiveness in increasing trust. I am also working with Dr. Gene Alarcon on statistics/methods research and a quantitative review of the antecedents and outcomes of perceived stress.
