Defense Manpower Data Center
The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) was established in 1974 with the primary purpose of supporting the information management needs of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel & Readiness OUSD (P&R). DMDC played an important role during the transition to an All-Volunteer Force by collecting and maintaining accurate and readily available manpower and personnel data for the Department of Defense (DoD). DMDC continues to follow its goal of collecting and maintaining archives of automated manpower, personnel, training, and financial databases for the Department of Defense. These archives are used to support the information requirements of the OUSD (P&R) and other members of the DoD manpower, personnel, and training communities with accurate, timely, and consistent data. The Defense Manpower Data Center is co-located in Arlington, Virginia (DMDC - East) and Seaside, California (DMDC - West). DMDC - East has a field operation on the campus of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
